Wildlife and Nature

There are a number of places where you might be lucky enough to see particular wildlife; bring patience, binoculars and remember nothing is guaranteed!

Stoerhead lighthouse is a great place for dolphin and whale watching, but remember to pick a calm day.

At Kylesku look out for seals, Eider ducks, Arctic Tern and, if you're really lucky, a White Tailed Sea Eagle.

River Kirkaig, Achmelvich and Culkein Stoer are also worth a visit.

As the largest area of limestone in Scotland, Inchnadamph is a great place to see wildflowers. June is the best month with interesting plants such as, but not limited to, Globeflower, Mountain Avens, Serrated Wintergreen and Holly Fern. Also keep an eye out for Red Deer, Golden Eagles and Merlin.
