Fishing
In Assynt you can enjoy both fresh water and sea fishing. There are literally hundreds of fresh water hill lochs, with an abundance of wild brown trout to entice you. For permits you will need to check the "Assynt Angling Info" website, as different permits are required for different areas (15th Mar - 5th Oct). Calum Millar, the local ghillie, is a great source of information and advice (01571833364 or 07751106158) Permits for both Assynt Angling Group and Assynt Crofter's Trust can be obtained from Mackay's Chandlery in Lochinver.
You can also fish the River Inver and the Kirkaig (mid June - 15th Oct) for the elusive Atlantic Salmon, however you must book this through CKD Galbraith (01738451600).
Lagg Trout Fishery is on the B869 between Clashnessie and Drumbeg and has hill lochs and a stocked fishery with rainbow, blue and brown trout.
Sea fishing is possible from the beach, rocks, boats and piers! You may catch Coley, Pollack, Mackerel and even Sea Bass and Plaice.
You will find some basic fishing equipment in the house which you are welcome to use.
