Bird Watching

In Assynt 232 different species of birds have been recorded in recent decades. Even if you just sit and watch the birds landing on the feeder through the kitchen window you will be rewarded. Recently we have spotted siskins and a hawfinch amongst the usual tits, sparrows and finches.

Venturing out, there are many sea birds to be spotted, kittiwakes and fulmar amongst them.

Golden eagles, White-Tailed eagles, Rock Ptarmigan, Snow bunting, Peregrine Falcon, Black-throated Diver and Manx Shearwater may also be seen. If you are lucky enough to spot one of the rarer visitors sightings can be reported to the Assynt Field Club.
